11-Party Alliance Plans Nationwide Marches to Push Demands

The 11-party alliance, led by Jamaat-e-Islami, is planning major protest programs across Bangladesh. These plans include long marches in several divisions. The alliance wants the government to act on the July National Charter. They also seek to implement the referendum verdict.

Alliance leaders discussed these new programs at a recent meeting. They proposed holding roadside rallies and public meetings. A grand rally in Dhaka is also under consideration. They also want to hold events with families of people killed and injured in the July uprising.

Top leaders of the alliance will meet on Monday evening. They will decide on the next steps for their movement. The alliance expects to announce its new programs on August 5th in Dhaka. The long marches may start on August 29 or 30.

The first phase of long marches may go from Dhaka to Khulna, Chattogram, and Rangpur divisions. Several roadside rallies and public meetings are planned along these routes. This will help local leaders and activists join the programs. After this, similar programs are planned for Rajshahi, Sylhet, Barishal, and Mymensingh.

Beyond political issues, the alliance will highlight public problems. These include the rising prices of goods and the gas crisis. They will also talk about load shedding and unemployment. Alliance leaders believe this will help gain more public support for their movement.

Ataullah Amin, a leader from Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, is part of the alliance. He said the long march proposal was discussed. He added that top leaders will make a final decision on Monday.

Hamidur Rahman Azad, coordinator of the 11-party alliance, also spoke. He said the movement has received strong public support. However, he noted that the government has not yet acted on the alliance’s demands.

The alliance wants to increase pressure on the government. They will keep their protests peaceful. They believe highlighting people’s daily issues will broaden their movement. They aim to achieve their goals through peaceful mass movements.
