Notorious Chattogram Criminal Arrested After Years on the Run
Mobarak Hossain Emon, also known as David Emon, has been arrested. He is an alleged top criminal from Chattogram. Chattogram District Police arrested him in Jashore on Wednesday morning.
Chattogram District Superintendent of Police Masud Alam confirmed the arrest. He said police caught Emon with five other associates. All of them are reportedly shooters.
Mobarak Hossain Emon is considered a close partner of another alleged criminal, Sajjad Ali. Sajjad Ali, known as Boro Sajjad, is currently a fugitive abroad.
Emon faces several serious charges. Police records show he is accused in at least seven cases. These include a double murder in Bakalia last year on March 30. He is also accused of killing Dhakaiya Akbar at Patenga Sea Beach on May 23 of the same year.
His name has often appeared in recent years. Police link him to extortion and intimidation in Chattogram. Emon is the son of Md Musa from the Kanchannagar area of Fatikchhari Upazila in Chattogram.
Police claim Mobarak Hossain carried many firearms, possibly 15 to 20. They say he is skilled in using weapons. He was also allegedly responsible for hiring shooters and motorcycles for the Bakalia double murder.
Police officials said that Mobarak Hossain and Mohammad Raihan took over Boro Sajjad’s criminal network. This happened after Sajjad Hossain, known as Chhoto Sajjad, went to jail.
Police claim Boro Sajjad’s network has at least 50 active shooters and associates. Mohammad Raihan and Mobarak Hossain have been regularly demanding extortion. They targeted various individuals and organizations on Boro Sajjad’s behalf. Victims had filed complaints before. However, police were unable to arrest them until now.
