Malaysia and Bangladesh have discussed expanding cooperation in energy and investment during a telephone conversation between Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
During the call, the leaders focused on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the energy and investment sectors for the benefit of both countries.
One of the main topics was Bangladesh’s ongoing gas supply challenge. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman requested Malaysia’s support, including possible cooperation with PETRONAS to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to help meet the country’s urgent energy needs.
The two leaders also discussed economic cooperation, including the progress of Axiata’s investments in Bangladesh and the potential for strategic collaboration with MMC Port to boost trade and investment opportunities.
