Donald Trump Claims US Has ‘Massive’ Weapons, Warns ‘Leakers’ of Jail
Former US President Donald Trump claimed on Thursday that the United States has a very large number of weapons. He threatened long jail sentences for anyone who said otherwise. Mr. Trump shared his strong views on his Truth Social platform.
He said news reports about the US running low on weapons were not true. Mr. Trump stated that the country has “massive amounts of ‘munitions’,” especially certain types. He did not give more details.
The former president added that many weapons are being made and sent to the US. He also mentioned that defense companies are building a record number of new factories.
The Washington Post reported that Mr. Trump questioned a top defense official about weapon shortages last Friday. This happened at a cabinet meeting at Camp David. The Post, citing unnamed sources, said Mr. Trump believed the weapon issue “had been fixed.”
Mr. Trump strongly criticized these media reports on Thursday. He warned that people who shared these “treasonous statements” are being hunted. He said they would face long jail terms.
CNN also reported that a lack of long-range guided missiles and air defense weapons affected Mr. Trump’s plans in the conflict with Iran. The US military had used almost 80 percent of its THAAD interceptors, CNN said. The Post also reported that weapon shortages made Mr. Trump stop new attacks against Iran. He had earlier threatened to hit Iran “very hard.”
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called the news reports “FAKE NEWS!” She wrote on X that she was at Camp David with Mr. Trump and a defense official. She said the reported meeting and discussion never happened.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell also said the reports about Mr. Trump’s clash with the official and weapon shortages were “equally fictional.” Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign ministry has denied any talks with Washington. This happened even as Mr. Trump said Iran wanted to make a deal.
