Bangladesh’s Largest Brain Hospital Doubles Capacity
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman opened an important new building on Saturday. It is located at the National Institute of Neuro Sciences and Hospital (NINSH) in Dhaka. This new 15-storey building adds 500 beds to the hospital. This major expansion will significantly improve specialized neurological care across Bangladesh.
The Prime Minister attended the ceremony with his wife, Zubaida Rahman. They officially opened the facility at around 10:00 AM. With this addition, NINSH now has a total capacity of 1,000 beds. This makes it the largest specialized neuroscience hospital in all of South Asia.
After the ribbon-cutting, Prime Minister Rahman planted a sapling. He planted it within the hospital grounds. He then joined a special prayer, known as a munajat. As part of the celebration, he also released pigeons and colorful balloons.
This new facility is expected to help many more patients. It offers advanced treatment for diseases of the brain and nervous system. The expansion means that a growing number of people needing specialized care can now get it. This will greatly ease patient queues and improve access to vital services.
NINSH first began helping patients in 2012. It started with a 10-storey building and 300 beds. The number of patients needing help quickly grew. Because of this, the hospital later added 200 more beds to its capacity.
Now, the newly built 15-storey building provides another 500 beds. This latest expansion brings the hospital’s total bed count to 1,000. It marks a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s journey to improve healthcare services.
Social Welfare Minister AZM Zahid Hossain was present at the event. Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain also attended. Many other government officials joined the ceremony. They witnessed the opening of this crucial addition to the nation’s medical infrastructure.
