Woman Dies on Biman Flight After Emergency Landing in Muscat
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight experienced a deeply saddening event recently. A 55-year-old female passenger passed away during her journey. The flight made an emergency landing in Muscat, Oman, because of this medical emergency. The woman had fallen critically ill while onboard.
The flight, numbered BG-136, had departed from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Its final destination was Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram, Bangladesh. Sanowara Begum, 55, was the passenger who tragically died. She began feeling unwell shortly after the aircraft took off from Jeddah Airport.
The flight crew acted quickly when Ms. Begum’s health deteriorated. They decided to divert the aircraft and land urgently in Muscat. Upon arrival at Muscat Airport, an airport physician immediately attended to Ms. Begum. Sadly, the physician confirmed her death.
Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil provided information about this incident. He serves as the public relations officer for Shah Amanat International Airport. Mr. Khalil released a statement on Wednesday regarding the unfortunate event. The statement confirmed the details of the emergency landing and death.
Authorities are now working to send Ms. Begum’s body back to Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Embassy in Oman is playing a key role in arranging the repatriation. This process ensures her family can receive her body.
The exact reason for Ms. Begum’s death is not yet known. Medical examinations may be needed to determine the cause. Officials have not released any further details about her condition.
After the emergency stop in Muscat, the Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight continued its journey. The plane departed from Muscat for its intended destination, Chattogram. It was scheduled to land at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram this afternoon. The remaining passengers completed their journey safely.
