Class XI Admissions Now Open: A Guide for Students in Bangladesh

The application process for Class XI admission has begun. Students can apply online for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications opened on Wednesday and will close on September 10, 2026. Classes for the new academic year will start on September 23.

Students must apply online through the official admission website. The address is xiclassadmission.gov.bd. Each student can choose between five and ten colleges. The application fee is 220 Taka.

Before applying, students need their SSC exam details ready. This includes roll number, registration number, and education board name. They also need the passing year and an active mobile phone number. A list of preferred colleges and the desired study group are also required. Students must check all details carefully before submitting their application.

Admission to Class XI will be based solely on SSC or equivalent exam results. There will be no admission tests or selection exams. This policy aims for fairness in the selection process.

Most seats, 93 percent, are open to all students based on their merit. The remaining seven percent of seats are reserved under specific quotas. Five percent are for the children of freedom fighters. Two percent are for the children of Ministry of Education staff.

Students applying under the freedom fighter quota must provide official documents. These must be verified by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. If there are no eligible freedom fighter children for these seats, they will be filled by students from the merit list. This ensures no seats remain empty.

The quotas for freedom fighters and education ministry staff apply only for the 2026-27 academic year. The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee issued guidelines on August 31. They warned students to check quota eligibility carefully. Grandchildren of freedom fighters, for example, are not eligible. Applying without meeting the rules will lead to rejection.

Students who received re-scrutiny results between September 2 and 10 can still apply. Their specific application window is from September 12 to 13, until 8:00 pm. During this time, they can also change their college preferences.

The selection results for all applicants will be published on September 17 at 8:00 pm. Selected students must confirm their admission by September 19 at 8:00 pm. Failure to confirm will cancel their selection. The final admission process will take place from September 20 to 22.

In cases where students have the same GPA, merit ranking will use total marks. For science group students, General Mathematics and Higher Mathematics or Biology marks will be considered next. If still tied, English, Physics, and Chemistry marks will be used. For humanities and business studies, English, Mathematics, and Bengali marks will break ties.
