Bangladesh Boosts Energy, Economy with New Projects

Bangladesh is taking major steps to secure its energy future and improve its economy. Mahdi Amin, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, announced plans to drill 150 new gas wells across the country. These wells are a medium-term solution to Bangladesh’s gas crisis. Another 150 wells will be drilled in the next stage.

Mr. Amin also said the government will add three new LNG terminals. This will increase the country’s capacity to import gas. Officials hope to open the third terminal before 2028. Work has also started to expand the Eastern Refinery in Chattogram. This project will enhance Bangladesh’s energy security. It has secured one billion US dollars in international funding.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has promised to solve the gas supply crisis. Mr. Amin noted that gas flow has improved significantly since then. He expects this positive trend to continue. The government also provides large subsidies to keep diesel prices low. This helps prevent extra costs for people.

International credit agency Moody’s Ratings has upgraded Bangladesh’s outlook. It moved from “negative” to “stable.” Mr. Amin called this “good news.” He said it means Bangladesh is now a stable country for global investment. This change should increase foreign investment. It will also improve Bangladesh’s standing in the world. Trade, investment, and new jobs will also benefit.

The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics reported positive inflation trends. Inflation has come down compared to last year and the previous month. The speed at which food and other prices are rising has also slowed.

The government is working on public welfare and state reform. It focuses on youth empowerment and better education. It also aims for overall public welfare and women’s advancement. Environmentally friendly energy and modern healthcare are also key areas.

Remittances to Bangladesh have increased by 13.10 percent in six months. This happened despite global economic challenges. Mr. Amin said this shows the success of the government’s monetary policy. New opportunities are also opening for Bangladeshi workers abroad. Italy may accept 10,000 workers annually. Oman has also lifted restrictions on Bangladeshi workers.

The government ensures a steady supply of fertiliser for farmers. It has a surplus of 1.568 million metric tonnes. This supports uninterrupted agricultural production.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s leadership guides these efforts. The government has addressed foreign loan pressures. It has also made important administrative reforms. Services are becoming corruption-free. Education and healthcare have seen major improvements. Bangladesh’s position in global diplomacy has also become stronger.

Mr. Amin said the government is committed to public welfare. It is building a prosperous and self-reliant Bangladesh. Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibli added that results are already visible. He asked people to be patient for more positive changes. Gas and electricity situations are now under control.
