Bangladesh Government Expresses Shame Over Mirpur Vandalism

Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman recently said the government feels deep regret and embarrassment. This was about recent attacks and vandalism in Mirpur. The incidents happened at the Radda MCH-FP Centre and the studio of content creator Salman Muqtadir.

Mr. Zahed Ur Rahman spoke at a press conference at the Secretariat on Tuesday. He promised that anyone found involved in these incidents will face justice. Investigations are ongoing to find those responsible.

A journalist at the press conference asked if the government felt embarrassed because the BNP party’s name had come up. The journalist mentioned that these attacks had harmed the party’s image. They also asked if there would be a full investigation into claims that arrested people were hired. These individuals were said to have links to BNP members.

In response, Mr. Zahed Ur Rahman said the government feels regret and embarrassment whenever citizens’ rights are violated. This includes attacks on people or damage to their property. He explained that ensuring security for all citizens is the government’s responsibility.

The Information Adviser stressed that the law applies to everyone. If investigations link anyone to these incidents, they will be brought under the law. He called the impact of such events on people very frightening.

Mr. Zahed Ur Rahman said the government’s job is to prevent crime. If a crime still happens, the government must ensure justice. It also needs to take steps to stop similar crimes in the future. He promised that the investigation would continue thoroughly. If any other individuals are found to be involved, they will also face legal action.
