Bangladesh Prioritizes National Dignity and Modern Defence, Says Prime Minister Rahman

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman confirmed Bangladesh’s main goal on Sunday. The nation will always protect its national interests, sovereignty, and dignity. He spoke at a National Standard Awarding Ceremony in Savar Cantonment. Bangladesh also seeks to build stronger friendships with all countries. This will happen with mutual respect and equality, he added.

Several army groups received the National Standard award. This award recognized their professional excellence. The Prime Minister explained that this flag is more than just a symbol. It shows a unit’s history, discipline, and sacrifices for the country. He said the flag reminds everyone of Bangladesh’s independence. It also honors the sacrifices of many people.

A strong modern army needs more than weapons or soldiers. Prime Minister Rahman stated its true strength comes from discipline and leadership. Public trust and a clear chain of command are also vital. The government is working to make the armed forces modern. This includes using new technology and ensuring professionalism.

The Prime Minister spoke about the changing world. Warfare methods are developing quickly. He mentioned cyberspace, drones, and artificial intelligence. These are now key parts of national security. Bangladesh is improving its defence to match these changes. The country also wants to build its own defence industry. This will help make weapons and equipment locally.

Prime Minister Rahman highlighted the army’s history. It is deeply connected to Bangladesh’s Liberation War. He recalled Major Ziaur Rahman’s actions on March 25, 1971. Major Ziaur Rahman declared a revolt against Pakistani forces. He then gathered soldiers to fight for independence. His role in the war inspires the armed forces today, the Prime Minister said.

The armed forces do more than defend the country. They help during natural disasters and emergencies. They also serve well in international peacekeeping missions. The government is focused on the welfare of soldiers. This includes better housing, healthcare, and education. Salaries have already increased. A “One Rank, One Pension” system is also being planned.
