Digital Platform Offers Hope to Trafficking Survivors
A new initiative is providing survivors of human trafficking with a chance to build independent lives through digital technology. Leading mobile operator Banglalink has joined forces with the nonprofit Winrock International, supported by the Swiss Embassy in Bangladesh.
This partnership focuses on the Banglalink Power application. Survivors will use this platform to offer mobile recharge and related digital services. The program aims to promote the safe and responsible use of digital tools.
Banglalink and Winrock International recently signed an agreement to make this collaboration official. The signing took place at Banglalink’s headquarters in Dhaka.
Muhammad Mehedi Hasan, sales and distribution director at Banglalink, highlighted the initiative’s goals. “Our partnership with Winrock International enables Banglalink Power to create sustainable income opportunities that empower survivors of human trafficking through digital and financial inclusion,” he stated.
Banglalink Power allows individuals to earn money by selling mobile recharges using their smartphones. It is designed for young people, women, survivors, and small business owners. Participants can start earning without needing any initial investment.
The collaboration seeks to strengthen the Banglalink Power network while supporting survivors. It will also help survivors develop the skills and confidence needed to use the platform effectively. The program aims to reach more communities across the country.
The Banglalink Power app offers a simple setup process with digital identity verification. It also provides real-time tracking of earnings and a clear rewards system. This makes it easy for users to begin and manage their income.
Officials from both organizations expressed optimism about the project. Dipta Rakshit, Country Representative for Winrock International in Bangladesh, emphasized the importance of digital skills. “Building digital skills is essential for creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, particularly for vulnerable groups,” Rakshit said.
This initiative demonstrates Banglalink’s commitment to digital inclusion. It aims to create accessible earning opportunities through technology and cooperation.
