Enzo Fernandez Joins Manchester City in Record-Equalling British Transfer
Manchester City has completed a major transfer deal. They signed Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea. The cost was 125 million pounds. This equals about 169 million US dollars.
This transfer fee matches a British record. Liverpool paid the same amount for Alexander Isak last year. Enzo Fernandez is 25 years old. He played for Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final.
The transfer happened on the very last day of the summer window. City confirmed the move with a video online. Doubts about the deal appeared as the deadline approached.
Before leaving, Enzo Fernandez posted a farewell message to Chelsea fans. He wrote on Instagram that these days were not easy. He also said he had not been feeling good.
Fernandez spent three years at Chelsea. He said Stamford Bridge became home for his family. He always wanted to win trophies for the club. He helped Chelsea win the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup in 2025.

Fernandez will now play with England international Elliot Anderson. He will also partner with Moroccan Ayyoub Bouaddi. City spent over 300 million pounds on their new central midfield. This is about 405 million US dollars.
