Bangladeshi professionals seeking to advance their careers and gain international experience now have a significant opportunity. Applications are officially open for the 2027–28 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship, a prestigious and fully funded program in the United States. This nine-month initiative is open to accomplished early and mid-career professionals from Bangladesh across public, private, and non-governmental sectors.
Established in 1978, this fellowship is a key part of the larger Fulbright Program. It honors the late US Senator and Vice-President Hubert H. Humphrey. The program offers a unique chance for participants to undertake graduate-level studies without seeking a degree. It also helps strengthen leadership abilities and enhance professional skills through teamwork with leading American institutions.
The Humphrey Fellowship aims to build lasting professional connections between US and international experts. Selection is highly competitive, focusing on professionals who have clearly shown a strong dedication to public service.
Fellowships are available in critical areas such as human and institutional capacity building, rights and freedoms, and sustainable land and prosperous communities. Specific fields include public health, infectious diseases, and education management.
Successful applicants will receive extensive financial support. This includes full tuition fees at their host university, a monthly living stipend, and a one-time settling-in allowance. The fellowship also covers accident and sickness insurance, allowances for books and a computer, and international return airfare to and from the United States. Additionally, funds are provided for professional development, covering field visits, tours, and conferences.
To qualify, applicants must be Bangladeshi citizens residing in Bangladesh throughout the process. They must hold a valid passport and not have dual Bangladeshi-US citizenship or US permanent residency. Candidates should be early or mid-career professionals with at least four years of university education and five years of relevant full-time work experience after their degree. English language proficiency is also essential.
