Hundreds of Schools Report Zero Passes in SSC Exams as National Rate Falls
This year, no students passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations from 312 institutions across Bangladesh. This figure reveals a significant challenge for the education system. These institutions are part of 11 different education boards.
Out of the 312 institutions, 57 belong to the nine general education boards. The Madrasah Education Board had 226 institutions where no students passed. Another 29 institutions are under the Technical Education Board. Also, one overseas examination centre reported no successful students.
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon officially announced the results on Monday, August 10. The announcement took place at 10 AM in the Ministry of Education’s conference room. Chairmen from all education boards presented the examination results to the Education Minister during this event.
The overall pass rate for this year’s SSC exams has decreased. The average pass rate across the general education boards is 64.05 percent. This is lower than last year’s pass rate of 68.04 percent. The pass rate dropped by 3.99 percentage points.
The number of students achieving a perfect GPA-5 also fell. A total of 106,009 students under the nine general education boards obtained GPA-5 this year. Last year, 125,018 students received GPA-5. This shows a notable decrease in top grades compared to the previous year.
