Legal Path to European Jobs Opens for Bangladeshi Talent
Around 700 Bangladeshi workers have received final approval. They are now ready for legal migration to the European Union (EU). Most of these workers will go to Italy. This is happening under the “Talent Partnership” program. This program connects Bangladesh with the European Union. It started in 2023.
Currently, 94 percent of Bangladeshi workers go to only seven countries. These are mainly in the Middle East, Singapore, and Malaysia. Most of these jobs are in lower-skilled areas. But there is a high demand for skilled workers worldwide. Bangladesh needs to provide competent people for these jobs.
The Talent Partnership program aims to create safe and legal ways for workers. It prepares Bangladeshi workers with needed skills. These skills match European job market needs. The program focuses on many key areas. These include construction, healthcare, and hospitality. It also looks at agriculture and IT.
This partnership helps everyone involved. EU countries get skilled workers. This fills their job shortages. Bangladesh receives stable money sent home by workers. Workers get safe and fair jobs. The program also fights against illegal recruiters. It works to lower migration costs.
However, some challenges remain. Bangladeshi training sometimes does not meet exact European standards. Language skills are also a problem. For example, workers may need to learn German or Italian. High fees charged by illegal agents are also a big issue. These fees make migration very expensive. The official visa fee for Italy is only 65 Euro. But illegal costs can reach 20 to 30 lakh Taka.
Mr. Giuseppe Di Giovanni is a migration expert. He works for the Embassy of Italy. He spoke at a seminar in Dhaka on September 28, 2026. He said Italy is a good place for legal work visas now. Italy plans to hire 150,000 skilled workers next year. Bangladesh is on their list of countries.
Mr. Di Giovanni urged people to use the Talent Partnership program. He warned young Bangladeshis against illegal ways to go to Italy. He said traffickers exploit them for large sums of money. He asked all ministries and hopeful migrants to use this legal chance. This program can help more skilled Bangladeshis find jobs in Europe.
