Millions in Bangladesh to Observe Eid-e-Miladunnabi
Tomorrow, Muslims throughout Bangladesh will observe the sacred Eid-e-Miladunnabi. This important day honors the birth and passing of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). He was born in Makkah in 570 AD and passed away in 632 AD. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) brought a message of peace and divine blessings to humanity.
Eid-e-Miladunnabi is a national holiday in Bangladesh. The government has arranged many national programs to mark this day. President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman have sent separate messages. They greeted Muslims in Bangladesh and worldwide.
This evening, President Alamgir opened the Islamic Foundation’s special program. It is called ‘Siratunnabi (PBUH) Programme’. The event is at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
National flags will fly at all government and private offices tomorrow. They will also fly at military bases. Mosques across the country will offer special prayers. This includes the Bangladesh Secretariat Mosque. Bangladeshi missions in other countries will also mark the day with respect. Authorities have been told to keep peace and order during the observance.
The Islamic Foundation has planned many programs from August 25 to September 8. These include Islamic sermons, seminars, and discussions. There will also be competitions. Students can join competitions in qirat (Quran recitation), hamd-naat (poems praising Allah and the Prophet), poetry, and Arabic essay writing.
The foundation will host an Islamic cultural competition for students. It will also have a calligraphy exhibition. A month-long Islamic book fair will take place. This fair will be at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque courtyards. The foundation will also publish special books and materials about the Prophet.
Famous Islamic scholars will give daily sermons. These will be from after Maghrib prayer until 10:00 PM. These talks will encourage good character, kindness, tolerance, and peace. They will ask people to follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The Islamic Foundation and Bangladesh Betar will hold a seminar together. Bangladesh Betar will also broadcast a poetry reading event. Local government offices and the armed forces will organize discussions and prayer gatherings. Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, and newspapers will have special programs and supplements.
Bangladesh Shishu Academy will arrange special programs for children. These include hamd-naat, discussions, and essay competitions. Major city areas will be decorated with flags and banners. These banners will carry the Kalima Tayyiba. Hospitals, prisons, orphanages, and old-age homes will provide better meals.
