Prime Minister Tarique Rahman Prepares for Important Three-Nation Tour

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit three important countries in October and November. He plans to travel to Japan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. These visits aim to strengthen Bangladesh’s ties with these nations. Diplomatic sources have confirmed these upcoming trips.

The Prime Minister will first go to Japan in late October. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi invited him. This three to four-day visit seeks to make relations between the two countries stronger. Officials have discussed increasing Japanese investment in Bangladesh. They also plan to review progress on sending skilled Bangladeshi workers to Japan.

In May 2025, former Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus visited Tokyo. During that visit, Bangladesh and Japan signed seven agreements. These included deals on investment, energy, and technology. They also set a goal to send 100,000 skilled Bangladeshi workers to Japan over five years.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will attend the 31st UN Climate Change Conference (COP31) in Turkey. The conference will take place in Anatolia from November 9 to 20. The leaders’ summit, which the Prime Minister will attend, is set for November 11 and 12. Bangladesh is very vulnerable to climate change. This conference is important for discussing how to implement climate targets. It will also focus on climate finance and compensation funds.

Later in November, the Prime Minister will visit Saudi Arabia. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman invited him for this trip. The visit will focus on expanding relations beyond just manpower exports. Saudi Arabia has shown interest in investing in new areas. These include fisheries, food, energy, and information technology.

Saudi Arabia is currently the largest job market for Bangladeshis. Over 2.8 million Bangladeshis work there. Officials will also discuss energy imports and regional issues. Continued Saudi support for the Rohingya issue is also important for discussions. These visits mark a significant diplomatic period for Bangladesh.
