Scholarship Exam Results Delayed After Early Leak, Official Suspended
The results for a major national scholarship exam, originally slated for release last week, will now be officially announced tomorrow, Sunday. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has scheduled a press conference to share the findings.
The early release of results for nine districts under the Dhaka Division caused significant disruption. These results were inadvertently uploaded to the web portal on Thursday morning before the official announcement. Members of the public accessed and shared the information online, leading to widespread discussion.
In response, the ministry has temporarily suspended Md Mehtab Kayes, Assistant Maintenance Officer at the Directorate of Primary Education, pending an investigation. The Directorate has formed a committee to look into the incident. A gazette notification on Friday confirmed the suspension, citing misconduct.
This year’s examination saw over 640,000 students participate. A total of 82,500 students will be awarded scholarships. Eighty percent of these scholarships are reserved for students from government primary schools, with the remaining twenty percent allocated to students from non-government primary schools and kindergartens.
Scholarship recipients will receive financial benefits under two categories: Talent Pool and General Grade. The examination took place between April 15th and 18th across most districts, with a slightly different schedule for the three Hill Tracts districts.
