Teacher’s Viral Video Sparks Cyberbullying, Unites Bangladesh in Support
Beauty Rani Paul, a respected head teacher in Fenchuganj, Sylhet, recently faced severe cyberbullying. This happened after she posted a short video on her personal Facebook account. The video featured a popular song and was recorded on school grounds.
A Facebook page later shared Beauty Rani Paul’s video. It presented the video in a misleading and negative way. This quickly led to many offensive comments and calls for action against her.
District Primary Education Officer Sakhawat Ershad announced an inquiry into the matter. A committee will investigate if Beauty Rani Paul broke government employee rules. She removed her video after the controversy began.
As news of the cyberbullying spread, many people across Bangladesh showed support. Female teachers started posting similar videos. Men and women from different professions also joined in. This quickly became a powerful form of protest against online harassment.

Beauty Rani Paul has a strong reputation as a teacher. She was named Best Teacher at the District Level this year. She usually posts educational videos for her students on Facebook. On July 23, she recorded the video after school hours. She filed a police complaint in Fenchuganj. She named “Asif Ikbal Eron” and the page “Fenchuganjpratidin” in her complaint. She said they shared her personal video misleadingly.
Sylhet Metropolitan University Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Jahirul Haque called the cyberbullying unfortunate. He said the video contained nothing improper or indecent. Bobby Hajjaj, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education, also commented. He said he heard the video was not inappropriate. He added that singing a song is not wrong.
The inquiry committee will check if Beauty Rani Paul broke rules by filming on school property. Some teachers believe authorities should have supported her instead. They argue that promoting creativity should come before investigations.
