Cricketer Saifuddin Makes History with Four Straight Sixes
Bangladeshi cricketer Mohammad Saifuddin achieved a new national record in a T20 international match against Zimbabwe today. The all-rounder hit four consecutive sixes, a first for any Bangladeshi batter in this format of the game. This notable feat happened during the second T20I in Bulawayo.
Saifuddin’s powerful hitting came at a crucial time for Bangladesh. The team had lost five wickets quickly after a strong start, with the score past 100. Reaching a competitive total seemed difficult. However, Saifuddin, batting with Yasir Ali, helped turn the game around.
His record-breaking performance occurred in the final over of the innings, bowled by Evans. Saifuddin hit the first ball, a low full toss, over square leg for six. The second delivery also went for six over midwicket. He pulled the third ball, which was slightly short, over fine leg for another maximum. Saifuddin completed his historic sequence by launching the fourth ball over midwicket.
He remained not out with 31 runs from just 10 balls. His efforts helped Bangladesh reach a strong total of 186 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs. This performance stands out, especially as Saifuddin himself experienced a difficult moment in 2017 when he conceded five consecutive sixes to South Africa’s David Miller. That incident still holds the record for the most consecutive sixes given up by a Bangladeshi bowler in a T20 international.
While Saifuddin set a new national best, the international record for most consecutive sixes in T20 internationals is six. This has been achieved twice by Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee, and once each by Kieron Pollard and Yuvraj Singh.
