Four Nations Hold Urgent Talks to Calm Middle East Tensions

Top officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan met Iranian officials in Tehran on Monday. Their main goal was to reduce the conflict in the Middle East. This meeting was very important. It marked the first high-level talks between these nations since the war spread to Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, attended the meeting. Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, was also present. Turkey’s intelligence chief, Ibrahim Kalin, joined them. They met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior Iranian officials.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry said the visit aimed to start talks. These talks would help stop further military action. All four countries agreed to continue their discussions. They want to strengthen cooperation, especially for peace and security.

Pakistan and Qatar have been working as mediators in this war. Qatari officials were also in Tehran on Sunday. Earlier efforts led to a temporary peace deal in June. However, fighting between Iran and the United States soon started again.

Then, fighting broke out between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia. The Houthis support Iran. Saudi Arabia is an ally of the United States. This created a new conflict area. The wider fighting has made shipping difficult in the narrow Strait of Hormuz.

This conflict has also pushed up global oil and gas prices. Gulf states are facing missile and drone attacks. Yemen is suffering a new humanitarian crisis. Tensions between Washington and Tehran have increased lately.

US President Donald Trump said the United States might carry out another military operation against Iran. Iranian officials have said Tehran has plans to attack Gulf undersea cables if the US and Israel attack again.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, said the talks would cover Israel’s plans to expand its influence. They also discussed developments in Palestinian areas and Lebanon. The meeting addressed the results of US and Israeli military actions against Iran.

Pakistan proposed this meeting to build a regional network against aggression. Pakistan’s official offered a solution to the conflict. The Mecca Pact states and Qatar could help guarantee any agreement. Egypt also authorized its military to help defend Saudi Arabia, a major partner.
