Bollywood Actor Imran Khan Detained During Mumbai Citizen Protest
Bollywood actor Imran Khan was detained by Mumbai Police on Saturday. He was held at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai, a well-known public space. This location was the planned venue for a public demonstration. The protest was organized to support a call from the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).
After his detention, the actor used social media. He shared a picture online showing himself. The photo showed him sitting inside a police van. Imran Khan added a light-hearted message with the photograph. He wrote, “Apparently I’m going for a drive.” This post quickly gained attention.
Speaking later to reporters, Imran Khan explained why he was there. He clarified that he was not present with any specific demands. Instead, he had come forward as a concerned citizen of Mumbai. He wanted to understand why people’s freedom of movement was being restricted. The actor also expressed his concern about why public voices were being suppressed.
Imran Khan further stated his position clearly. He said he was not affiliated with any specific organization. He was participating in the protest in an individual capacity. Emphasizing his stand, Imran added, “I don’t have any right to demand anything from people.” He then said, “I am not a part of any organisation.” He concluded, “I will stand as a representative.”
Police took firm action at August Kranti Maidan throughout the day. Mumbai Police sources confirmed a significant number of detentions. More than 400 people had been taken into custody in the area.
In a separate but related event, Delhi Police also detained many protesters. About 1,000 individuals were held across the national capital. They were attempting to march towards Jantar Mantar, another key protest site. This demonstration was also led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The CJP protest specifically demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Delhi Police sources provided details of these detentions on Saturday.
