Elderly Man Found Deceased in Chandanaish Home Days After Last Sighting
Abdur Rahman, 65, lived alone in Chandanaish, Chattogram. Police found his decomposed body inside his home on Monday. His wife and three sons live in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
On Monday, his sons tried to call him. They could not reach their father by phone. His younger son’s wife then went to check on him. She found the door to his house closed.
With help from local people, the door was opened. Inside, Abdur Rahman’s body lay on his bed. Police believe he died three or four days earlier. His body had already started to decompose.
There were insects on the body. A strong, bad smell filled the house. His face also looked different, according to police and witnesses.
Abdur Rahman was the son of Mia Sowdagar. He lived in Nagarpara village in Chandanaish Upazila. He had lived in Dubai before returning to Bangladesh. He came back about one and a half years ago. He did not go back to Dubai.
He lived by himself at home. He also cooked his own meals. People last saw him at a tea shop. This was in the village last Friday.
Police recovered his body on Monday. The local Gausia Committee’s humanitarian team helped. The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. This report will help find the cause of death.
Inspector Riton Mia is from Chandanaish Police Station. He is the investigation chief. Inspector Mia said police arrived at the house around 6 PM on Monday. He noted the very strong smell. He also saw insects on the body’s face and eyes. The skin on both hands was peeling off.
Abdur Rahman’s wife is in Dubai. She is having medical treatment after an accident. His three sons and eldest son’s wife also live in Dubai.
His middle son married last January. The wedding was held at their Chandanaish home. After the wedding, the whole family returned to Dubai. But Abdur Rahman stayed in Bangladesh.
The middle son’s wife lives with her parents in Dohazari. She sometimes visits her father-in-law. She told the police that the sons in Dubai tried to call their father many times. They could not reach him. The autopsy report will confirm if he suffered a stroke or another medical problem.
