Four New Faces Join Tarique Rahman’s Cabinet Today
Four new members are expected to join the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) cabinet today. This government is led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will first take his oath as president this evening. The new cabinet members are expected to take their oath shortly after.
Sources confirm three names for new ministers. They are Abdul Moyeen Khan, Andaleeve Rahman Partho, and Saching Prue Jeri. Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Lincoln is expected to become a state minister. The president will administer the oath to these four individuals.
The Cabinet Division has contacted the potential ministers. They have been asked to come to Bangabhaban tonight. Saching Prue Jeri confirmed that he received a call. He was asked to be at Bangabhaban around 7:30 PM.
Abdul Moyeen Khan is a member of the BNP standing committee. He represents Narsingdi-2 in parliament. He was elected in the February parliamentary election as a BNP candidate. Andaleeve Rahman Partho chairs the Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP). The BJP is allied with the BNP. He serves as a Member of Parliament for Bhola-1.
Saching Prue Jeri is a Member of Parliament for Bandarban. He leads the BNP’s Bandarban district unit. He won his seat in the last parliamentary election. Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Lincoln is being considered for state minister. He is a Member of Parliament for Gaibandha-4.
The government started in February with 50 cabinet members. This number included Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. There were 25 ministers and 24 state ministers. The Prime Minister also has ten advisers. These advisers are not part of the cabinet.
With the addition of three ministers and one state minister, the cabinet will grow. The total number of members will reach 54. This will mean 28 ministers and 25 state ministers. This number does not include the Prime Minister.
