Health Ministry Directs All Hospital Libraries to Stock Books on Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia

Bangladesh’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has given a new order. All public and private hospitals must now keep specific books in their libraries. This instruction also applies to medical colleges nationwide.

The Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare sent out this directive. It was issued on September 27. The letter was signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Khandakar Rabiul Islam.

The order states that one set of three books must be purchased. These books are published by Jatiyatabadi Prokashona. They must be kept in the libraries of these institutions.

The books focus on important political figures. They are about BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman. They also cover former prime minister Khaleda Zia.

The three required books are “President Zia: Rajnoitik Jiboni,” “Begum Khaleda Zia: Jibon O Songram,” and “Sobar Agey Bangladesh.”

Heads of various departments under the Health Ministry received this instruction. They were asked to take necessary steps. This ensures that the order is followed.

The directive was also sent to many other offices. These included the Medical Education and Family Welfare Division. Also, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) received it.

Other recipients were the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP). The Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) and the Directorate General of Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM) also got copies.

The Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) was included as well. Furthermore, copies went to the National Institute of Population Research and Training (NIPORT). The Health Economics Unit (HEU) and the Health Engineering Department (HED) also received the letter.

Finally, the National Electro-Medical Equipment Maintenance Workshop & Training Center (NEMEMW & TC) was informed. This widespread distribution shows the Health Ministry’s intention for all relevant institutions to follow the new directive.
