Music Icon Runa Laila to Perform Historic Solo Concert for Flood Relief
After a month-long visit with family in the United States, legendary singer Runa Laila is set to make history in Bangladesh. Tonight, she will perform her first-ever solo concert at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s National Theatre Hall. This marks a significant milestone in her 62-year musical career.
The highly anticipated event will showcase 10 songs specially selected from her six-decade journey in music. Though Laila has performed at the venue multiple times before, this is her debut solo show there. She hopes the evening will be “beautiful and memorable” for the audience.
Runa Laila emphasized the importance of such events for connecting younger generations with the nation’s musical heritage. She plans to include many audience favorites in her performance.
In addition to her performance, the acclaimed singer will receive a special honor at the concert. Organizers confirmed that all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to flood victims. The entire amount will be contributed to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
The Shilpakala Academy has a history of hosting similar tribute concerts for veteran artists, including Sabina Yasmin and Syed Abdul Hadi. This concert continues that tradition of celebrating musical icons.
Following this special event, Runa Laila will continue her busy international schedule. Later this month, she is scheduled to tour Australia, performing for the Bengali community there.
