NCP Unveils Key Candidates for Dhaka Mayoral Races
The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced its mayoral candidates for the upcoming Dhaka city corporation elections. Nasiruddin Patwary will represent the NCP for the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan is the candidate for the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
NCP Convener Nahid Islam made this announcement on Sunday afternoon. He is also the Chief Whip of the opposition in parliament. The announcement followed a key meeting held at the NCP’s party office in Banglamotor, Dhaka.
The meeting brought together potential councillor candidates. They came from various wards across both city corporations. Discussions focused on important preparations for the city corporation elections.
Party leaders talked about how to prepare at the ward level. They also worked on choosing suitable councillor candidates. Many civic issues facing the capital city were also discussed. Nahid Islam provided guidance to all party leaders present.
The NCP meeting emphasized several points for its members. Leaders must identify problems in their wards. They should then start movements to address these issues.
Party members also received instructions to stay in touch with families. These families were affected by deaths and injuries in July. The NCP urged its leaders to stand by these families.
Lastly, leaders were asked to monitor activities at the ward level. They must resist activities of the Awami League, which the NCP described as “fallen and fugitive”. The NCP stated that these activities are banned. The party aims to ensure a fair and peaceful election process.
