World Cup 2026 Final Tickets Break All US Sporting Records

The average ticket price for the FIFA World Cup 2026 final has soared to an unprecedented $11,327, making it the most expensive sporting event in United States history. This monumental sum, roughly equivalent to Tk 1.4 million in Bangladeshi currency, reflects extraordinary global demand. The final, featuring Argentina and Spain, is set to kick off early Monday morning in New York.

For fans hoping to witness the historic match, finding an affordable seat is a challenge. The cheapest available ticket for the final is priced at $6,943. Before Argentina secured their spot by defeating England in the semi-finals, prices for the least expensive tickets were even higher, around $7,200. Prices eased slightly once the two finalists were confirmed.

At the upper end of the spectrum, some tickets are fetching astronomical figures. The most expensive ticket currently listed is $28,479, which translates to about Tk 3.5 million. A pair of seats in Section 115A of MetLife Stadium in New Jersey were offered for a combined $56,958.

The 2026 World Cup final now surpasses previous record holders for average ticket prices in the U.S. It outstrips Super Bowl LVIII (2024), which had an average price of $9,411, and Super Bowl LV (2021) at $7,313. Even Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs, priced at $6,308, falls significantly below the World Cup final’s average.

This tournament is also recognized as the most expensive in FIFA’s 96-year history overall. At the start, the average ticket price was $1,622, climbing to $4,162 by the semi-final stage. However, prices for some matches did not consistently rise. For example, tickets for the Spain-Belgium quarter-final dropped by nearly 60% after the United States and Portugal were eliminated.

FIFA’s original highest-priced final ticket was set at $10,990, a record for a standard-category football ticket. Yet, the governing body has faced criticism for its ticket sales approach. Dynamic pricing, which allows prices to change based on demand, has pushed costs significantly higher. Many fans believe this has transformed the tournament into an event largely exclusive to the wealthy. In response, FIFA has announced plans to review its ticketing strategy for the 2030 World Cup.
