Trump Claims Deal Reached for Hamas Disarmament in Gaza
United States President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that an agreement has been made to disarm Hamas. He said his “Board of Peace” group helped create this deal. The agreement also includes all other armed groups in Gaza.
President Trump shared this news on his Truth Social website. He called it a major step for Gaza. He believes Gaza will now be ruled by a new Palestinian government. This new government will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people.
Trump added that Israel would gain security. Gaza would no longer be a base for terror attacks. Hamas has not yet given any comment on President Trump’s statement.
President Trump said this disarmament deal is part of a ceasefire agreement he helped arrange in October. That ceasefire aimed to end Israel’s war in Gaza. The conflict has caused the deaths of over 73,000 Palestinians. It has also greatly damaged the Palestinian area.
The ceasefire agreement has faced problems. Israel has broken the agreement many times, Trump said. More than 1,200 Palestinians have died since the ceasefire. Israel has also taken more land. It continues to limit people and goods moving in and out of Gaza.
Under the new agreement, Israel will leave Gaza. An International Stabilisation Force will then take over. They will work with a new Palestinian police force after all groups are disarmed.
President Trump stated that Gaza will finally be managed by a new Palestinian government. This government will truly serve its people.
Meanwhile, Hamas leaders are in Cairo, Egypt. They have been there since last week. They are discussing the ceasefire deal with mediators. These mediators are from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkiye. An official from Hamas said earlier on Thursday that these talks were “positive.” He also said they were “making progress.” Hamas announced on July 6 that it would dissolve its group. This group had governed Gaza for nearly two decades.
