Dhaka-Born Author P. Paramita’s Debut Novel Sells Out in New York
Dhaka-born author P. Paramita launched her first novel, “Appetite,” last Thursday evening. The event took place at the famous Strand Bookstore in Manhattan, New York, USA. All copies of “Appetite” available at the bookstore sold out very quickly.
The publication event featured an intimate conversation. Author P. Paramita spoke with fellow author Haley Jakobson. The meeting room was full of guests. People shared warm laughter and applause throughout the discussion.
After the conversation, there was a question and answer session. Readers then had their books signed by P. Paramita. The fast sales show great interest in her work.
“Appetite” is published by The Dial Press. This is an imprint of Penguin Random House. The story’s main character is Zarina. She is a Bangladeshi immigrant.
Zarina works as a restaurant chef. She also loves wrestling. Zarina dreams of making Bangladeshi cuisine popular in the United States. She wants it known by its true name.
Many people attended the book launch. Writers, publishers, and enthusiastic readers came. They traveled from New York and New Haven.
P. Paramita was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She studied at Sunbeams School. Later, she earned her Master of Fine Arts degree. This was in Creative Writing from Columbia University in New York.
